The ILC Technology Program

The ILC Technology program is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering community members and individuals impacted by the criminal justice system by providing them with training in broadband technology, renewable energy, and basic computer networking infrastructure. The program equips students with essential skills and offers the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, enabling them to pursue entry-level careers as renewable energy technicians, cellular tower technicians, and help desk technicians.

Throughout the course, participants engage in both theoretical learning and hands-on projects. A key component of the program is the design and construction of a community broadband site, addressing the significant issue of limited broadband access in rural areas of Washington. By the end of the program, graduates are not only prepared for employment but also contribute directly to bridging the digital divide in underserved communities.

The training program spans 8 months and comprises 1,200 hours of instruction. During this time, students work towards earning certifications in Wireless Technician Administration, SolarEdge Installation, OSHA10, CPR/First Aid, RF Safety, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Following the training, students participate in a 4-month, 600-hour internship, where they gain hands-on experience by developing and building a community broadband site. This comprehensive program equips students with the technical skills and practical experience needed to excel in the fields of wireless technology and renewable energy.
